The Sumo subframe system is a bespoke galvanised steel frame solution for the professional construction of outdoor kitchens, fire pits, patios, seating and much much more. The core outdoor kitchen subframe system is specifically designed to house almost any built in bbq grill unit, wood fired oven, outdoor fridges or virtually any built in accessory. The system is pre-designed to your specification and arrives as a pre-built unit. Once sub clad with the appropriate board, the framework is immediately ready to accept natural stone and granite work surfaces, porcelain tile cladding, external render, brick/stone slips or composite cladding directly to it. Unlike flimsy alternatives, our frame system is made from a specialist 75mm galvanised steel profile. A building material which is ideally suited for this application. It does not bend, crack or warp. It is resistant to rust and is not affected by the freeze thaw cycles of a UK outdoor environment. It is a totally non-combustible material and is A1 rated. Once fixed into position it is sub cladded with a specialist building board (or your own external tile backer of choice) which enables it to be finished directly with a huge variety of different materials as mentioned; tile, wood, stone, slips, porcelain or render. Due to its strength and total customisation it can take any kind of work surface; from ultra heavy oversized polished concrete, luxury granites, Cutting edge Dekton and tile worktops.

Every garden and appliance is different! We design and manufacture the sumo subframe to fit your vision. All we need from you is a list of appliances that need to fit within the frame, the size of counter space and the shape of the outdoor kitchen (Straight run , L shape, U-Shape or G-Shape). We take away all the guesswork by manufacturing the subframe unit with the cut outs and spaces built in. They arrive on site pre-built. This makes installing your BBQS, appliances, sinks, fridges, doors and drawers etc a doddle!
Cut appliance spaces, access door frames and bbq cut outs all are pre manufactured and built into the frame.

Compared with traditional brick and block Sumo subframe systems are fast which means less labour costs and mess free. Also DIY friendly, you don't need years of brick laying experience to install it! Just a good level of DIY experience and some power tools!

The Sumo frame solution offers the following advantages compared to brick, concrete (GRC), flat pack/modular and wooden constructions.
Strength & Durability
Sumo components are lighter and stronger than weight-bearing wood or concrete products. A typical weight-bearing steel fabrication is 30% to 50% lighter than a wooden equivalent. This makes steel frame construction far stronger and more durable than traditional wood framed alternatives. Great for decks, roof terraces, balconies and load sensitive environments.
Easy Fabrication In Different Sizes
Our frames are available in a variety of sizes and can be fabricated by the millimetre to order. This means they can be customised to fit almost all outdoor kitchen designs and appliances. It also means you can have a customised outdoor kitchen with different appliances from different manufacturers. No problems being tied into one brand.
They are hand built in the UK and arrive at your installation site pre assembled usually within 14 days.
Non-Combustible & Fire Resistant
Combined with our recommended Sub cladded board, The Sumo Steel frame constructions are non-combustible, highly resistant to fire, (reducing the fire risk to a building and retarding the spread of a fire should one occur).
Extremely important! Nearly all built in GAS BBQ manufacturers insist that the carcass construction materials for housing your grill and appliances MUST be made of NON-COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS. This also includes any surfaces and construction within the immediate vicinity of the appliance. If you try to use combustible materials like wood you are not only ignoring fire safety regulations you are also kissing goodbye to any warranty on your appliances.
Most importantly of all using wood or combustible materials means you are putting yourself, your family, your friends and your neighbours at risk! Fire kills.
Insect & Wildlife Resistance
Sumo frame system components are also immune to the degrading effects of burrowing insects and mammals – which can cause a problem for wooden outdoor kitchen frameworks and other materials.
Moisture & UK Weather Resistant
Sumo steel frames and boards have excellent freeze/thaw resistant properties so they don't warp, swell, shrink, crack or twist over time like wood or concrete. Sumo frames are also galvanised which means they are virtually immune to the effects of water and corrosion – an important consideration for outdoor kitchen builds completely exposed to the elements.
